BIG REGION
BUILD REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION
Gridlock is a regional issue costing the economy
$6B–$11B annually. A fix will require cooperation
and coordination among all regional municipalities,
and the province.
Providing accessible, affordable transportation
across the Toronto region is essential to ensuring that
people and goods can move more quickly and easily,
increasing productivity and quality of life.
The Toronto region is rapidly growing, with an
influx of 120,000 newcomers each year. This
presents big challenges and even bigger
opportunities. With both a provincial election
and municipal elections in 2014, this represents a
pivotal moment for the Toronto region and a rare
opportunity for voters to think twice about the
kind of city-region they choose to live in.
During this election year, the Board is putting
forward our Members’ ideas on how to take the
Toronto region from merely “good enough” to
“great”, through a series of reports which form
